Stella got in trouble twice today for dragging her bedding out into the yard. Personally I don't mind if she does that. At all, actually. What I mind is that she darts around me like a crazy person when I try to go get it, and then she tries to play tug of war, which, of course, rips her blankets to shreds. And these were good blankets before I selflessly gave them to her.
So, I've tried turning around and not looking at her no matter what she does. And that pretty much stops the darting around and trying to play tug of war for the moment. But, then she drags them out again the next day and does it all over again. I've also tried the spanking, but it doesn't work. Works great with kids, but not with dogs, apparently. So, we've taken to using the spray bottle. She hates it. And it works usually, except today it didn't. I guess I'll have to do it several times before she puts two and two together that she can't carry all her blankets into the yard and rip them up.
You know, so far we've given her three sets of old sheets, three old blankets, 2 towels, a bath mat, and a canvas tarp. Hahaha. I'm a sucker for my puppy! I don't want her to be cold out there no matter what kind of antics she pulls trying to rip up her bedding.
Today I let her inside, but she started the growling and barking again, and it wasn't even raining. I couldn't figure out what she was barking at, but apparently it was important to her, so we put her outside so she could protect her domain more efficiently.
We love our Stella.
